    Hardwood

Crafted From Premium Redwood or Hardwood

All of our products are manufactured using FSC® 100% engineered laminated timber. We offer redwood (Scots Pine) and hardwood (Dark Red Meranti) and both have the same extensive warranty.

When comparing the two materials, our hardwood has more of an open grain structure meaning it gives more of a textured finish, particularly when stained.

Casement Vs Sliding Sash Windows FAQs

Are casement or sash windows more energy efficient?

Both our casement and sash windows exceed energy efficiency standards. Casement windows typically offer marginally better thermal performance due to their compression seal mechanism, but both styles provide excellent insulation with our high-performance glazing options.

Which window style is better for period properties?

Sliding sash windows are typically associated with Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian properties as they offer a traditional look. While casement windows are often used in modern properties, flush casement windows are historically accurate for many cottage and farmhouse styles. Our heritage designs can be tailored to match the specific style of your home.

What is the difference between spiral balance and cords and weights?

They are a completely different opening mechanisms for our sliding sash windows. The cords and weights option has wider jambs to hold the lead or steel weight, but there is no difference in the warranty we offer.

Can I have different types of windows in different parts of my home?

Absolutely. Many homeowners choose sliding sash windows for street-facing elevations and casement windows for less visible aspects of the property. Our design team can help create a cohesive look across different window styles.

How do I know if I need planning permission to replace my sash windows?

If your property is listed or in a conservation area, you’ll likely need planning permission to replace your windows. We can provide detailed specifications and drawings to support your planning application and have extensive experience working with conservation officers.

    How do maintenance requirements compare?

Both window styles are designed for low maintenance with our factory-applied finishes. Sliding sash windows have more moving parts and may require occasional attention to maintain smooth operation, while casement windows have simpler mechanisms.
