In 2018, Tiff and her family purchased their new home nestled in a charming village within the Surrey Hills. Recognising the need for a more family-friendly layout, they set out to transform the property, which initially had low ceilings and disconnected rooms. After renting the house out for a year while awaiting planning permission, they chose to demolish the existing structure in October 2019 due to a woodworm-infested timber frame and unsuitable foundations. The rebuild, meticulously designed by Back to Front Exterior Design, was completed in October 2020.

Tiff envisioned a neo-Georgian aesthetic, perfectly suited to the picturesque cricket green in the heart of the village. She chose Bereco’s timber Sliding Sash Spiral Balance Windows and Flush Casements to enhance the home’s character, emphasising exterior charm.
The project, spanning a year from demolition to completion, with only a minor three-week delay, a remarkable achievement given the challenges posed by the 2020 lockdown and its restrictions.
One of Tiff’s favourite elements is the Flush Entrance Door, a striking four-panel design finished in Smoky Blue (BS 18 B 25), complemented by a Polished Brass Ring Knocker and Large Centre Door Knob for a timeless, elegant look that matures beautifully. The door is equipped with a Euro Cylinder Pull on the exterior with a 3-point locking mechanism and 3* Neighbourhood Watch approved cylinder with a thumb turn internally. At Bereco our Entrance Doors are PAS24:2022 compliant and we hold Secured by Design certification. Tiff also admires her porch and the Boot Room door, finished in Signal White (RAL 9003), featuring a half-panel, half-glass design with an Cottage bar feature, adding charm and character to the home.
The Signal White Sliding Sash windows throughout the house boast fully concealed balances, seamlessly blending traditional aesthetics and modern functionality. Polished Chrome ironmongery, including Fitch Fasteners, Hook Lifts and Push & Twist Vent Locks, add elegance and security, the Push & Twist Vent Locks enhance ventilation without compromising on safety.
A standout feature is the rear elevation, showcasing the Playroom, Dining Room and Lounge, with two pairs of French Doors and a set of Folding Doors. These doors, designed with lower raised and fielded panels and large glazed areas featuring eight panes per leaf, creating a cohesive and stunning visual all with perfectly aligned sight lines.
Following the completion, Tiff appreciated the discreet white trickle vents in the windows, ensuring compliance with the Building Regulations. Her contractors also praised Bereco’s windows and doors for their ease of installation, highlighting the overall success and satisfaction with the project.
