Beaumont Mews is set within the grounds at Beaumont Hall, St Albans, Hertfordshire. JBP Developments recently completed a beautiful renovation of the existing barns on the property, converting them into 7 luxury holiday lets with the contextual design approach from MAS Architecture. The project has been submitted for the RICS Awards 2024 in the Commercial Development category.
As you can see this project is one of two halves, incorporating a large modern curtain wall system on one façade and a traditional masonry structure featuring our Flush casement windows and doors on the other.
Beaumont Mews is a heritage building, and the sympathetic change of use retains much of the historic interest and architectural character of the building while creating a sustainable development ready for long-term use. Sustainability was a key concern of James Beare, Director at JBP, selecting products like Bereco timber windows and doors which are manufactured from FSC®100% timber, meaning that every piece of timber we use has full traceability back to an FSC® certified forest, and are built to last a lifetime. This has helped to reduce the environmental impact of the building.

Bereco supplied Flush Top Hung Casement timber windows finished in RAL 9010 Pure White, each with a traditional 16mm lambs tongue bar and Polished Chrome fixings to provide the perfect finish.
The Bereco entrance doors give a stark contrast to the White windows in RAL 9005 Jet Black, all complete with our Enhanced Security 3* Neighbourhood Watch approved multi-locking espagnolette as standard with PAS24 compliant glazing and cylinders with the sleek Black Balmoral Handle complimenting the overall look.
JBP & MAS came up against issues with planning and conservation at a late stage in the ordering process, despite previous indications that the proposed designs would be accepted. Our dedicated Project Manager worked with all parties to replicate the details of the original windows more closely whilst providing CAD drawings for submission to planning in a timely manner to prevent undue delays to project completion.
