Richard and Lisa have spent the past six years in their individually designed home in the rural market town of Driffield, East Yorkshire. Surrounded by mature trees and set within a conservation area, the property sits on the site of former strawberry fields, giving it a truly serene setting.
When their original windows and doors began showing signs of wear, the couple knew it was time for an upgrade. With such a distinctive home, they wanted replacement windows that felt special – beautifully designed, timeless in style, and sympathetic to character of the property, without being overly modern. Having previously chosen Bereco for their garage conversion and utility extension, they felt confident we were the right choice for their full-house renovation.

From the outset, the process clear and collaborative. Our design consultation with Jarek, one of our dedicated project managers, helped them explore design options, review detailed drawings, and consider important practicalities such as fire escape requirements for the upstairs bedroom windows, and maintaining balanced sightlines across the upper elevations. This guidance ensured the new windows and doors complemented the home’s architecture perfectly.
Because the upstairs rooms receive strong sunlight, the homeowners also wanted to address uncomfortable summer temperatures. Our team recommended Anti-Sun Glass, a Combi-Neutral glazing with a subtle reflective tint. This was installed in the upstairs bedroom and the kitchen window, providing relief from summer heat while maintaining beautiful, clear views. The couple are looking forward to seeing the difference this makes when the warmer weather arrives.
As part of a wider kitchen renovation, the rear layout of home had changed, meaning what was once a back-door utility entrance became part of the main living space. The original door was replaced with a fully glazed French door set, creating a brighter more open and inviting atmosphere.
Explore Our Installation ServicesFor their new entrance door, Richard and Lisa were drawn to something with traditional Victorian influence – elegant, full of character, and with just the right balance of light and privacy. Working from their ideas, we designed a bespoke Beaumont door leaf featuring an decorative external Bolection panel detail and obscured glazing with a clear pinstripe etched border. Finished in Farrow & Ball’s No. 275 Purbeck Stone, the door sits beautifully against the softer RAL 9010 Pure White frame and the natural stone surrounds.
The windows throughout were also finished in RAL 9010 Pure White, a gentle off-white chosen to suit the rural setting. Each lipped casement window features a simple 16mm horizontal glazing bar, giving the property a cohesive aesthetic. Chrome ironmongery was selected to complement existing interior details, with classic features such as a centre doorknob, escutcheon and Victorian letterplate completing the look.
By choosing our Remove and Replace installation service, Richard and Lisa enjoyed a seamless experience from survey to completion. Our installation team took care of everything, including responsible disposal of the old windows and doors, and ensured the home was never without windows more than an hour, even during a November installation. The couple later praised the professionalism, care and workmanship shown throughout.
Now complete, the transformation speaks for itself. The new Bereco windows and doors have enhanced the curb appeal, improved security, increased energy efficiency, and made the home feel brighter and more welcoming. Even neighbours have remarked on the improvement.
When asked to choose their favourite detail, Richard and Lisa said “my favourite bit, well it must be our front door. It looks superb! Or is it the simplicity of the window design with the simple Georgian bar, I can’t decide but we do love it all.”
