Discover Timber Windows For Stylish Living Spaces

When homeowners think about interior design, timber windows aren’t always the first thing that comes to mind. But they should be. Windows are one of the largest visual elements in any room. They frame your views, influence natural light, affect light reflection across walls and ceilings, and set the tone for your entire space.

Timber window frames for interior design
Unlike uPVC or aluminium, timber frames bring warmth, texture and natural beauty that synthetic materials simply can’t replicate. The natural grain of real wood adds depth and character — whether you’re designing a minimalist contemporary home or restoring a heritage home in a conservation area.
At Bereco, we’ve been crafting beautifully bespoke wooden windows and timber doors since 2003. Every product is made to order, giving you the freedom to design new windows that work with your architectural style rather than against it.
How timber frames shape your interior design
Natural light and space
The way light enters a room changes everything — from how colours appear on your walls to how spacious a room feels. Timber windows with slimline glazing bars and clean lines maximise the glass area, flooding your living spaces with fresh air and daylight.
For rooms where you want to create focal points, consider larger formats. Picture windows, bay windows and French doors all draw the eye and connect indoor spaces with the outdoors. Bereco’s flush casement windows sit perfectly flat within the frame, delivering an elegant, seamless look that suits traditional and modern homes alike.
Colour and finish
With thousands of paint and stain finishes available, your windows become a core part of your home design palette. Every Bereco product is fully factory finished as standard, meaning the colour is applied in controlled conditions for a consistent, durable result.
You can choose:
- Single colour finishes for a uniform look inside and out
- Dual colour finishes where the interior colour complements your décor and the exterior suits your property’s façade
Stain finishes that let the natural grain of the timber show through, perfect for rustic or Scandinavian-inspired interiors
This level of customisation makes interior design timber windows genuinely bespoke — not just in size, but in style.
Moulding profiles that match your aesthetic
Details matter. Bereco offers different moulding profiles to suit different tastes:
- Lambs tongue mouldings are available on the Heritage range with slimline glazing — ideal for period properties, heritage homes and conservation areas where a traditional but refined profile is needed.
- Ovolo mouldings are available on the Traditional range with standard double glazing, offering a classic design with soft, rounded edges.
- Our contemporary range features internal and external pencil round mouldings
These may seem like small details, but they make a significant difference to how your windows sit within a room’s overall design scheme.

Choosing the right window style for your home
Bereco’s range covers virtually every architectural style and home type. Here’s a quick guide:
Flush casement windows
Flush casements sit flat within the frame, creating clean lines that suit both contemporary homes and older properties. They’re a popular choice for conservation areas where planning requirements call for a traditional appearance with modern performance.
Lipped casement windows
Also known as stormproof casements, these offer excellent weather resistance and are available with a wide range of bespoke design options — bars, ironmongery and colour combinations.
Sliding sash windows
A wooden sash window is the hallmark of Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian architecture. Bereco’s sash designs combine timeless style with exceptional thermal performance and security. Box sash profiles are available for heritage homes where authenticity is essential.
Tilt and turn windows
For modern homes and contemporary architecture, tilt and turn windows offer unobstructed views, generous natural light and practical ventilation. Their large glass panels make them ideal for creating a modern, open feel.
Doors
Bereco also manufactures timber doors including French doors and patio doors, allowing you to carry a consistent design language throughout your home.

Glazing options: performance meets design
The right glazing does more than reduce heat loss — it affects how your windows look and perform day to day.
Heritage range:
Available with single or slimline double glazing. The slimmer glazing unit preserves the proportions of traditional window designs, making it an excellent option for period properties and replacement windows in conservation areas.
Traditional range & contemporary range:
Available with double or even triple glazing. Double glazed timber windows achieve U-values starting from 1.3 W/m²K — which is 7% better than the 2023 Part L building regulations. Triple glazed windows achieve U-values starting from 0.8 W/m²K, which is 43% better than the regulations stipulate.
This level of thermal performance means less energy is wasted through your windows, contributing to lower energy bills and improved home comfort across every season.
Acoustic performance
If you live on a busy street or under a flight path, Bereco’s Ambient range of acoustic windows and doors offers sound reduction ratings of up to 42dB. Please note that acoustic glass is compatible with the Traditional range but is not available on the Heritage range.
Energy efficiency without compromising style
Timber is a natural insulator. Wood frames have significantly better thermal efficiency than aluminium and perform comparably to — or better than — uPVC, without the environmental cost.
Key benefits of timber windows for energy efficiency:
Superior insulation: Wood’s cellular structure naturally resists heat transfer, reducing energy consumption
Lower energy bills: Better thermal performance means your heating system works less hard
Compliance with building regulations: Bereco’s double and triple glazed products exceed the 2023 Part L requirements, making them suitable for new build projects, extensions and renovations
Whether you’re building a new home or upgrading existing windows, choosing timber delivers excellent thermal performance that stands the test of time.

Built to last: exceptional durability and minimal maintenance
One concern homeowners sometimes have about wooden windows is longevity. With Bereco, that concern is put to rest.
Every Bereco window is made from sustainably sourced FSC® 100% or 100% PEFC Certified softwood or hardwood. The timber undergoes careful preparation and treatment during the manufacturing process, resulting in a lifespan of up to 60+ years.
The factory-applied finish protects the wood from day one, and with periodic care, your windows will continue to look and perform beautifully for decades.
