Transform Your Home with Bespoke Timber Bifold Doors
February 6, 2026 | News | Written by Nicola Harrison
If you’re looking to create a seamless connection between your home and garden whilst flooding your living spaces with natural light, timber bifold doors offer the perfect solution. These versatile doors have become a popular choice for homeowners who want to open up their properties and create flexible, light-filled spaces that work beautifully throughout the seasons.
At Bereco, we’ve been crafting premium bespoke bifold doors since 2003, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern performance to deliver products that truly transform homes across the UK.

Why choose timber bifold doors?
Timber bifold doors, often called folding or folding sliding doors, bring together the warmth and character of natural wood with contemporary style. Unlike standard patio doors or french doors, bifold doors fold back concisely to create a wide, unobstructed opening that genuinely brings the outdoors in.
Here’s what makes them such a great choice:
Maximum natural light – Large glazing panels allow sunlight to pour into your home
Space optimisation – When fully opened, bifolds create a much larger opening than traditional french doors
Flexible living – Perfect for connecting kitchens, dining rooms and conservatories to outdoor spaces
Property value – Quality timber bifolds add genuine appeal and market value to your home
Year-round performance – Modern double glazing and triple glazing options provide excellent thermal efficiency
Bereco’s bespoke bifold door range
At Bereco, we design timber bifold doors to suit virtually any application. Bespoke and made to last, our doors bring together style and performance.

Made-to-measure manufacturing
Our bespoke approach means we take precise measurements of your specific openings and create doors that fit perfectly. Whether you’re installing them in a new extension, a complete home renovation, or replacing existing doors, we’ll craft them to the exact needs of your space.
We offer different configurations and up to 10 door panels, giving you complete control over how your bifold doors operate and fold. This flexibility means we can accommodate:
- Different opening widths and heights
- Various folding directions to suit your room’s space
- Corner configurations for wrap-around designs
- Specific panel numbers to match your aesthetic preferences
Premium timber
All our bifold doors are manufactured using FSC® 100% or 100% PEFC Certified sustainably sourced engineered laminated timber. We offer both softwood (Scots Pine) and hardwood (Dark Red Meranti), each with an up to 60+ year lifespan and the same 10-year warranty.
The care and attention we give to our timber throughout the manufacturing process ensures durability, performance and low maintenance for life. Our hardwood option offers a more open grain structure, creating a textured finish that looks particularly striking when stained.
Quality hardware and precision engineering
The smooth operation of bifold doors depends entirely on the quality of their components. We use the Brio folding door hardware system on all our timber bifold doors, featuring:
- Corrosion-resistant tested stainless steel wheels and runners
- Robust, neatly concealed hinges
- Drop bolts that fit flush to the door panel for a flawless finish
- Components designed for reliable operation year after year
This blend of style and engineering substance means your doors will glide effortlessly for decades, not just months.

Security features that deliver peace of mind
Security is a paramount concern when installing glass doors that open your home to the garden. Our timber bifold doors are tested and certified to the latest security standard PAS24:2022 and are certified by Secured by Design.
Every door set includes:
- Tamper-proof flush bolts and hinges
- Multipoint espagnolette locks
- 3-star Neighbourhood Watch Approved cylinder locks
- Laminated P2A security level glazing
We offer two locking systems depending on the number of door leaves: lockable flush bolts without external handles for doors that can only be accessed from inside, or lever handle operated espagnolette systems with handles on both sides for external access.
Glazing options for every need
The level of glazing you choose significantly impacts both the appearance and performance of your bifold doors. We offer a range of options to suit different requirements.
Our double glazed timber bifold doors exceed the new Part L 2023 building regulations and can achieve impressive U-values starting from 1.3 W/m²K – which is 7% better than the guidelines. This means less heat loss and lower energy bills.
For even greater thermal performance, our triple glazing achieves U-values starting from 0.8W/m²K, which is 43% better than what’s stipulated in the regulations. This makes them an excellent choice for north-facing installations or homes where minimising heat loss is essential.
We offer a variety of obscure glazing patterns with different designs providing varying levels of privacy, rated 1-5 with 5 being the highest level. These decorative glass options allow natural light to flow through whilst maintaining privacy – ideal for doors facing neighbouring properties or used as internal bifold doors between rooms.

Complete customisation options
Your bifold doors should reflect your personal style and complement your home perfectly. We offer extensive customisation:
Colours and finishes
Choose from thousands of paint finishes across RAL Classic, RAL Design, NCS and BS colour charts. We can also match to Farrow & Ball, Earthborn or Fired Earth colour collections. White or black bifold doors remain a timeless choice, but we can create any shade you imagine.
Our factory-applied finishes use environmentally friendly water-based paint or stain. Single or dual colour options let you match the exterior facade and interior décor perfectly.
Mouldings and design details
Add character with traditional or contemporary mouldings and bars. Ovolo mouldings paired with standard double glazing create classic appeal, while clean-lined designs suit modern interiors and contemporary design schemes.
Ironmongery
Our handles, hinges and locking mechanisms come in 10 different metal finishes, allowing you to coordinate with other interior doors, windows and fixtures throughout your property.
