With the building being Grade II listed it was very important that the design of the new windows matched the original frames as closely as possible. Upon researching a number of timber window companies the family approached Bereco in the knowledge that we have supplied our wooden windows and doors to many listed properties over the years including the local Thrum Mill. The family were then introduced to our local suppliers Blackthorn Timber Windows who had experience of listed properties and were ideally placed for undertaking such a historic restoration.
Upon visiting our property, Lee from Blackthorn Timber Windows really understood our needs and it became clear his knowledge, combined with the timber windows manufactured by Bereco were of an excellent quality. The time and effort from Lee shouldn’t be underestimated. His experience and attention to detail, backed by great customer service was pivotal. This made our decision a lot easier.
Bereco FSC 100% Hardwood traditional lipped casements and lipped French doors were chosen for this period property. 35mm horizontal bars were used to replicate the solid design of the original windows and were factory finished with a deep rosewood satin stain finish that creates a warming contrast with the natural stone of the building.

This property dates back over 300 years and was once part of a main hall and farm settlement that the local council auctioned off for conversion & renovation. This particular barn, that the family were fortunate enough to secure, was originally built to house cattle in and their primary objective throughout the renovation was to create a family home, in a private setting, whilst retaining as many existing features as possible, keeping the buildings heritage and character.
