In the 1800s this outstanding property was once used to store horse drawn carts for a prominent estate in Sleaford. In the 1900s the estate sold the property on to a developer who then transformed the cart store into new homes. The current owners took the building on with the intention of further developing the space whilst maintaining the buildings character and authenticity.
The brief from the client replace the aged windows with new high performance timber windows and doors from sustainable sources that replicate the original windows to maintain the integrity of the building and its history.
RGL Window Systems; an approved installer of Bereco timber windows and doors since 2015; took on the challenge of sourcing and replacing the wooden windows and doors for this historic building.
Their first challenge find a bespoke supplier of sustainable timber windows and doors; not an easy task as the large arched doors that once allowed the carts to pass into the building presented a real challenge in themselves both in replicating the design as well as in their manufacture and delivery.
Knowing that Bereco only use FSC 100% hardwood and softwood with full chain of custody that can be tracked back to the forest, RGL Window System did not hesitate in recommending Bereco wooden windows and doors to their client.
Bereco Traditional Flush Casement windows in FSC 100% hardwood with dual colour finishing were chosen for their original putty line exterior design and traditional ovolo mouldings that replicated the design of the existing frames. This combined with a proven service life of circa 60 years and innovative Teknos factory coatings that don’t require first redecoration until between 8 and 10 years from delivery ensured the clients brief was not only met but their expectations exceeded.
